About

On June 25th 2006, Final Thought took the stage for the first time at The Foundation Night Club in Barrie. Their catchy poetic lyrics, impressive stage performance and screaming fans and friends cheered them on to an exciting win over sixteen other local bands at The Supernova; “School’s Out” Battle of the Bands. Lead by singer/songwriter Dustin Dopsa, Final Thought was formed in early 2006 when Dustin met guitarist Billy Malone. They instantly became friends, and quickly set search for a drummer. Zach Watson, a close friend and classmate of Dustin’s took the position of drummer, and filled it with tremendous skill and ability. Final Thought then went on to pose for a number of flashy photographs for The Barrie Advance and Barrie Examiner newspapers. With the buzz around the name Final Thought quickly growing, the group went on to perform and compete for a spot on the bill of the Glass Tiger show at The Barrie Fair. Two days later the group again performed an impressive set, that ranged from the pretty acoustic ballad “Lost” to the overdriven, upbeat single; “Panic Attack.” With their fan base growing rapidly, Final Thought entered One Star Studio’s, filling their EP with amazing distorted tones, gorgeous piano, and lyrics that itched to be shouted back by a crowd. With recording finished, Final Thought went on to play another upbeat, crowd pleasing set at The Summer Warfare Finals, which featured Silverstein as the headliner. Brandon Hawthorne was officially added as Final Thought’s bassist on his birthday in October. Final Thought then went on to release their harmony filled and driven EP; “A reason to listen.” and it has received compliments from all of its listeners. Later the group went on to play two shows at Dustin and Zach’s half home, St. Peter’s Secondary, which would mark two more notches to their belt. Moving further away from home, the boys headlined The El Mocambo in Toronto, and with warm welcomes, they were greeted. One month later Final Thought made their television debut with Rogers Television, and learned a great deal from the experience. The Gentlemen then finished off the month opening for Shotgun Rules, Seconds to Go, Farewell to Freeway and Means. Final Thought, has not made their “final thought” quite yet.
