I AM BACK FROM ROCK IM PARK!!!
Day 1
on our way to nuremberg on the motorway you already could see whos going to rip and who not because of the full packed car with food, beer and camping stuff. near nuremberg we missed the exit, twice and when we were on the road to the festival entrance we got stuck in the traffic for almost 2h. finally arrived we built up our tents. we were there at about 2 pm which was already too late. our camping site on which we stayed, was about 2 miles away from the "centerstage". so we had a lot to walk every day as you can imagine...
the first day everything was chilling and calm. A friend of mine already drank 8 beer in 4 hours but was still able to play a guitar. in the evening the dixi-toilets were already full and smelled bad as hell. So if you had to pee you had to walk a while until the next dixis. But we got our revenge on Saturday…
the first night was ok, loud but ok, except that guy running around with a megaphone into which he all the time said weird things. And this megaphone had a special effect! It could play the titanic melody and this guy thought it was funny playing that melody every 2 minutes at 4 am! At the beginning it was pretty annoying but on the last day it was just … part of the festival so it was good! There were also a bunch of people who sang also things like: “ a life long, the same undies on” all night long, why don’t get these people tired after a while??
Day 2 (Revolverheld, Good Charlotte, The Kooks, Korn, Die Ärzte, Wir sind Helden)
First day of the festival was warm in the morning but in the late afternoon it started to rain like expected. So we were all soaked up with water cause we forgot our rain ponchos. When we first saw the end of revolverheld (a german band) it started to rain but that wasn’t bad because we were in the middle of the crowd and it was very hot tho and there was absolutely no space to breathe. When Good Charlotte entered the stage the crowd went mad. They were pretty good but they could have done better.
After them I went back to our tents and got my sexy wide orange poncho and saw the kooks performing in the rain on the alternastage. But I wasn’t the only one with an outstanding poncho. T-Mobile sold some pink ponchos too so I didn’t look like a dump on my own!
Back on the centerstage played korn. I didn’t know any song but I liked what I heard and that front singer even played that scottish instrument, I don’t know what it is called in English sry.
Then finally the greatest band of the world: Die Ärzte! They were sooooo good. They introduced themselves with “Hello, Headliner the name” and in the end they appeared as the pope and a nun. Really funny guys. They played so long that they got kicked off the stage but they had 4 songs left so they told the crowd to sing the last song themselves and they did! Oh and how they did! Damn good!
Day 3 (The Hives, Billy Talent, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes)
The morning and afternoon was pretty calm on the camping site and we were bored so we grilled sweets and believe me you don’t wanna know what happened to them. Just so much: it looked very chemical and disgusting!
Then I headed off for the centerstage to see billy talent. Before them played the hives, who were very very good and entertaining! First I didn’t like them because if you like mando diao … (well mando diao fans will know but its not important enough to mention and explain it here) but now I love them. Good band. Then finally billy talent entered the stage. I really wanted in that area near the stage which is separated from the remaining crowd but that wasn’t possible unfortunately. Ben always dripped water over himself and it ran down his shirt and trousers and it looked like he well… wet his pants. Nevertheless they opened with I think was devil in a mid… and standing in the rain followed but it didn’t rain when he sang it, a few moments later it did^^ our local newspaper wrote: “billy talent performed with absolutely no talent…” but I think they were good. This newspaper isn’t good either, its crap!
After billy talent I walked over to the alternastage and saw my chemical romance. There were very few people because muse was playing on the center, but enough to get a great mood. That front singer is really cute, cause he was jumping up and down the stage like a kangaroo on a trampoline. But the show was great. He told us to do something good next week cause they will do as well before they sang “cancer”.
Then back on the center again waiting for linkin park. There were a lot of rumors that they would cancel the show again like they did 3 times in the passed years but yeahhh they came. An hour too late but they came. The lights they had on stage were amazing! But they started with songs from the new album which I all didn’t know except “what ive done” so I went over to the arctic monkeys and heard the last songs of them. When they went off stage you could hear linkin park singing “in the end” and “breaking the habit” the songs ive been waiting for. So I ran back and just came in the middle of “what ive done” back and saw the rest of the show. After the arctic m. the white stripes played on the alternastage and the eventmanager told the crowd on the center not to go to the alterna because it will be to small for so many people and so they showed to white stripes over the screens. It was very calm and romantic when I saw “Jolene” at the almost empty centerstage. Very good!
Actually I wanted to see funeral for a friend, aiden and the gallows but they played the same time like Linkin park so I couldn’t see them… at 0:55 am evanescence performed but I was too tired so I went back to the tents. Everybody around me was a little drunk already and I wanted to have some drinks too and it was very dark so I couldn’t see how much vodka I did into the glass and I suppose it was pretty much cause a few moments later I wanted to get up but I couldn’t even stand and fell on the ground and was lying there for about 2 hours. I couldn’t move I even couldn’t open my eyes. I was ready like ive never been before. It was the worst night I ever had. At about 4 am I slowly became “me again” and I made my way to some dixies, but then I saw that they pushed the dixies and they were then lying on the street. And if that wasn’t enough someone set one of them on fire! But the firemen came, cleared the fire and replaced the dixies.
Day 4 ( Wolfmother, Kaiser Chiefs, Mando Diao, Beatsteaks, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sugarplum Fairy, Zoot Woman)
The next day we got up after a short and horrible (for me) night and packed our things and everything which survived and didn’t break down^^ cause we wanted to go home after the last act that night. It was about 2 pm when we saw black smoke rising up just a few metres away from us and we saw the dixies burning again, but this time 4 dixies were burning and it was way more dangerous and stupid. Some tents even almost burned down (see end of the blog).
Through staring at this I missed 30 seconds to mars who I really wanted to see. But I saw a bit of wolfmother and then finally Kaiser chiefs! Everybody loved the Kaiser chiefs and when they played “ruby ruby ruby” the crowd went mad and everybody sang their heart out. Awesome show!
And then the moment of all moments came: Mando Diao on stage. I love em. Yes I love lostprophets too, but mando diao were my “first love”. This was my third time I saw them and they were great. Gustav was barefood and björn’s “Ochrasy” performance was like oasis’ wonderwall. Great! And they looked so hot, damn hot!
Mando diao were followed by the beasteaks, a german band which is really great. You should really hear something of them. Even billy talent and another band I don’t remember said they were looking forward on them. The crowd loved them.
Headliner of that evening were the smashing pumpkins after a 7 years break. I didn’t know them but they were really good. A mixture of coldplay and hard rock. Their costumes were also very good and this time I was in front of that gap in the crowd, the separated area.
At the end I went to the clubstage were sugarplum fairy did a pretty good show with undressing and their famous black leather jackets. The Swedish…
The last band I saw was zoot woman. This band was just perfect for ending the festival. I didn’t know them before but their sound was just great, good chill out music.
Then we headed back home and I arrived at 3 am and the first thing I did was to shower! Just if you’ve been to a festival like this you appreciate a shower, flowing warm water and a toilet!
So now you know what happened, and I think I surely forgot the half but the important things are in it.
You rock!
Love
Lara
