Wednesday 16th April...Sitting on train from sunny Paris to Amsterdam. I played as part of an absolutely fantastic show in Paris last night with Newton Faulkner at la Boule Noir. Screaming girls and a wonderful crowd. Thank you for coming out.
Over the last week I have been playing in some very cool and very remote German towns - Wesel and Lauchhammer to name just two! I had to wake at 3.30am a couple of mornings to get trains and planes and its amusing how exactly on time German trains are.
The tour van of Jason Isbell's band got broken into in Bristol last week after a great night at St Bonaventure, it's so good to play at these venues organized by real music lovers for their townsfolk and I look forward to getting back there! Anyway, these idiots trashed the dash and stole the Sat Nav but couldn't get the van started so luckily the boys still have their guitars and drums and other gear!
Then on the 10th of April I played the biggest gig of my life at the Royal Albert Hall with Paul Weller and Duffy. It was incredible to sing in there. Just incredible. Roger Daltrey from The Who - organizes a week of shows for The Teenage Cancer Trust and he gave me some great life advice - in the Gents before the gig! He told me stuff that will stay with me but his main advice about singing in the BIG room was to just enjoy it and to sing like you were singing to your mum. Thanks mate. .. He also gave me some advice on how to survive in this game - muchly appreciated too! You are The Daltrey Lamah.
Warning .... As lovely as the Swiss are - they are also bastards!!!! (joke!) Two days ago the blinking Swiss border guards stopped me and took my CDs away and said I couldn't sell them in Switzerland. I said I have a Swiss railway watch... it just didn't help. They need the money I guess.. Especially after their bank Just lost 12 billion shitters.
Well I better practice this song with Newton before we play it tonight. We should probably pick one to play too!
I'm playing in Holland, Belgium, Spain and Portugal this week. Hope to see you there.
See you soon and stay in touch.. News from anywhere helps pass the traveling hours!
Love
Liam
