The tour is rocking along
Ireland shows were good fun. Galway and dublin were really good . Met some Irish kids in the back alley near roisin dubh in Galway who threw bottles at me and jimbo the bass player for Jason isbell. Then they kindly helped open the iron security gates we couldn’t ... By shaking the bejeebers out of them. Thanks for not killing us. But galway was brilliant especially my day off, on Guinness and Irish jig band music , fell to sleep at 9pm! Thats early grand ma
I did some head banging in Dublin with some rocking long haired metal fans who came to see Jason. Sorry that I couldn’t join you boys onto angels gentleman’s bar after the show lads!
I went to see a film called Lars and his real girl .. In Dublin . It was brilliantly written and performed . About a fella who falls in love with a blow up doll. But it makes you think about relations with all in a totally new light. If you liked little miss sunshine , reign over me, or even punch drunk love, you’ll love this. I cried . To Scotland I ran
The gig in Glasgow at king ruts was grand. Those scots rock that joint everytime I’m there. They say that’s where oasis were discovered at king tut’s . I wouldn’t know. But I discovered that chicken curry on chips makes you feel like you swallowed a hot air balloon basket and all .
I caught an Italian film from the 70s in Glasgow . Its cool they do these reruns. Its called ’the conformist’ set in fascist 1940s Italy and France . Its the most stunningly filmed flick. The outfits, the locations of grand buildings in Rome and Paris. Seductive Beauty in set and style is contrasted by the plot a lead character returning from fascist Italy with his wife on their honeymoon to Paris just to murder his philosophy teacher from school , who is anti fascist. Get it? The film was up with and reminiscent of classics like ’harold and maude’ and ’a clock work orange’ but this is an incredible visual achievement and its great to see its been dug up.
Well Newcastle rocked last night at the cluny . They drank they sweated they screamed and we thank them .
Now all I see is the green fields rolling by.
