Hey whats going on guys? Get ready for another installment of the RiCCioLi Rundown, but this time I'm bringing the suntan lotion, flip flops, and fun. That's right, it's the RiCCioLi Rundown Summer Edition! Memorial Day has past and school is almost out for everyone so we can officially call it summer. I for one am so excited to hit up the beach, some excellent shows, and party hard. But what are you guys going to do. Here's a few things to ponder across.
1) Summer first and foremost means one thing to most "scene-sters"… WARPED TOUR! It doesn't get any better than an entire day filled with all of your favorite bands live in your home state! This is Warps 14th year traveling across the country and it hasn't lost any steam. This years lineup features Punk The Clock Vol 3 artists such as Jack's Mannequin, Four Year Strong, Say Anything, Valencia, Anberlin, and others. Check the official Warped Tour website for all your line up and schedule needs. Trust me folks, not a year you don't want to miss.
2) Warped Tour is only one day so your going to need some other shows to fulfill your quench for music. There is the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with UnderOath, Disturbed, Slipknot, and all those crazy head banging metal bands. Valencia is touring with Hit The Lights and All Time Low. Alkaline Trio is hitting the road with Bayside and Scary Kids Scary Kids, + others on the Zumiez Couch Tour.
3) What has air conditioning, excellent music, new stuff every Tuesday? Your local record store. All summer long, some long awaited albums will be hitting the shelves and you will not want to miss them. Jack's Mannequin, Weezer, Tyga, A Thorn For Every Heart, Hit The Lights, and so many others. Comment me with your list so I can expand mine please…… And while you're there, might as well pick up a copy of Punk The Clock Vol. 3 if you already havent!
4) Go on a vacation or shopping spree! Tax refunds here and the $600 checks from Bush are in the mail for most. (don't quote me on that for some people it might be less). Treat yourself to some fun. Fill up your gas tank. Remember what that feels like? Hahahaha oh man those were the days. Take a trip to the beach or an amusement park. Grab a Wii and play "Wii-Fit" all summer to get that six pack. Maybe you're a PS3/Xbox 360 person. So rock Grand Theft Auto all summer. Or just jump on the Guitar Hero band wagon. Wanna be really cool though Mr Guitar Hero Stud…pick up a real instrument and blow your friends away. Practice something more useful then a fake one. That's just my opinion. Just have fun!
5) Find that summer romance you always wanted! Throw on track 10 off of PTC 3 (can u guess what song that is) and the females will be melting in your hands. Hahaha. Just please PLEASE PLEASE don't be one of those "Free Hugs" Kids at Warped. I mean yeah its cool to fall in love at the rock show (as one of my all time favorite bands would say), but don't be that guy/girl.
6) Spend a night at the movies. If you can brave the $10+ ticket fee there are a lot of great looking movies coming to theatres. The Dark Knight….OMG I can't wait for this. Pineapple Express w/ Seth Rogen from Knocked Up looks pretty promising. As does The Incredible Hulk, You Don't Mess With the Zohan, Get Smart, and def Hancock with Will Smith. The Dark Knight and Hancock are my two bets for biggest summer movie of 2008. Although I still haven't gotten to see Iron Man or Speed Racer or Indiana Jones.
7) Stay Out Of Trouble. Simple enough.
I don't know what else to suggest cause like most of you I'm sure, I always sit at home still complaining there isn't anything going on in this town. Main thing, rock out hard this summer and make it count. Be safe and keep doing what your doing. If you have any suggestions or plans for this summer, let me hear them.
