Be Gentle.. This Is My First Time...

One thing they teach you in journalism classes is that you should be able to communicate in all available types of media, be it be newspaper, television, and now the internet. Because of that, the pressures of starting a blog have been looming in the back of my head for the past year or so. The main problem with me starting a blog, however, seemed to be i didn't have a certain place i felt comfortable starting one at. Being so late in the blogging game, i felt that by starting one at existing sites made me too much of a follower, and to be honest, blogging on myspace has become such a scene that i would never lower myself to that (and of course my simple minded friends would have all just laughed at anything i wrote, be it significant or not, and i wouldn't have gotten any real feedback). I needed something groundbreaking, something new, and even when i decided to start a reccenter account, i never intended to blog with it. Not until i was at a concert and had all these thoughts pop into my head did i realize that rec center was the perfect place for me to start blogging, so for that i thank them. Now on to more pressing issues. Tonight i was dragged to a Fray concert by my sister and her friends. Don't get me wrong, the Fray is a slight guilty pleasure of mine, i mean their music is good enough that i wont turn it off when it comes on, but i would have never made the decision to go to one on my own. Also, i would have never guessed that the band would be able to sell out a venue that holds 7000+ people two nights in a row (at 50 bucks a ticket mind you). As far as i know, they only have one CD and an EP. And it wasn't at all the type of crowd that i expected to be their either. It was one of the most mixed aged people i had ever seen. Their were entire families together watching. Grown men in their upper 40s and little girls not old enough to be in training bras. So on that note, kudos to the fray. But what is that makes them so popular. Lyrically, they have some of the most depressing songs I've ever heard, musically, i haven't really heard anything that sets them apart from other bands, and they have only been around for 2 years, how on earth have they already gained such a string fan base. Whatever it is they are doing, they are doing it right and need to bottle that shit up and sell it.

You're awesome! I don't know about the Fray...maybe they made a deal with the devil?
