[An interview with Ross by Tola http://www.myspace.com/tola_onanuga] For people who aren't familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound? We always seem to struggle with this question (which i guess is a good thing) I would say Volcanic melodic rock with a technological twist! haha Who would you cite as your main influences? We each have quite different tastes but there are definately common threads between us,like Metallica,Nirvana,Led Zeppellin,A Perfect Circle and Muse to name a few. Congratulations on winning Rock Poole's battle of the bands. Was it an expected victory? And how do you think it will help you on the road to success? It certainly wasnt expected as there were so many great bands that enterd-I think as far as helping us become successful anything like that is first and foremost a huge confidence boost. We generally dont like the idea of a "battle of the bands" but we had alot of fun with the Rock poole one and made alot of new friends in the process so all round it was a pretty good experience. Is the new material that you've been working on coming together well? Actually so far its been awesome,we are all really excited about it.We have written two songs that we have gigged for a little while to really give them time to become tight and well shaped and we just wrote four more so we aren't struggling for new material! How do you think you've evolved as a band since you got together in 2004? Theres been a total evolution really,we started out alot more disjointed and static, but we've come along way in terms of really playing from the heart and giving it our all-we pump out every ounce of energy because the three of us want this so much, and at the same time its become more and more fun and exciting. We have been getting alot of feedback on how we have really improved our sound and overall presence recently and thats something we really strive for. I'd say over the past six months we have come together as a whole and truly gelled,we are not just a band now we are really close friends too (cue cheesy music) hahaha. What are your touring plans for the rest of the summer? We are planning alot more shows but as the live scene tends to die down a bit after the summer thats when we will start focusing on recording our new material and getting it out to all those record labels! Do you have a preference between being on the road or in the studio? Its really hard to say, there are obviously positives and negatives for both so Im going to have to be boring and say 50/50.I think we go through stages,if we are playing live constantly we sometimes want a break and work on new stuff, then when youve been recording for a while you wanna get out there and play it to people. And what's been the highlight of the year for the band, so far? Well winning the Rock Poole battle was a really great day,it was a damn long one too! We started off lugging our gear to Kingston Lacey to play the sound festival where due to unseen circumstances we ended up headlining the soundstorm stage which was awesome, but we then had to grab our gear and head straight to Mr.C's in poole for soundcheck, then we ended up going on last out of four bands so I think we played finally at about 1 am.So to do all that in a day and to win was just superb. And on top of that I'd have to say just generally the great response we have been getting from the crowds so far,we have made alot of new friends and played with alot of wicked bands so thats a general highlight!
